making a home surveillance camera with webcam, sd memory and programmable chip and power source?

Can you answer korr’s question about Surveillance?:

i was wondering if there are anything similar to what i am looking for?

i want to make a surveillance camera which takes shots and storing them into a sd memory card, and have it programmable to either do motion detection or something similar… along with a way of power source, either outlet or battery source.

i’m just trying to make it simple, without having to run a laptop, or pc that consumes way too much energy. suggestions?

Surveillance Feedback: That would be cool.

But since saving images to a file require a processor, an operating system (probably java-based) and internal memory, I don’t say it’s not possible or not existing but all I can say is, it’s probably expensive.

    I agree
There are a lot of cams and systems out there and I think there are only a few top of the market ones that really work well. Although you need the right type of setup for the right type of environment…
I ended up going for micromark wireless cctv system for my out buildings.
