do I need permission from the council to install CCTV at the front of my home?

Can you answer Hit the ground running’s question about Surveillance?:

The camera will be facing onto the main road outside my home (covering my car), it will not be pointing at any of my neighbours homes or gardens but it will cover a portion of the main street outside my home..will I need permission from my local council?.Thanks.
UK.England..thanks again.

    Surveillance Feedback: You will not need planning permission unless you reside in a listed area where the sight of a camera might degrade the look being protected by such order.
    Where you point your camera is also up to you amazingly and can be aimed directly into a neighbours bathroom window without breaching UK law unless you do it covertly for perverse reasons. {Mad or what?}
    If you are in doubt, stick the camera up and let it run. If someone objects you will recieve a request long before an order.
