What is the law on audio surveillance?
Answered By Editor
US laws clearly state in the United States
Codes, Title 18, Section 2510 (2) in its
first amendment says that any conversation
between individuals is private, unless they
are notified that they are being monitored.
This means that recoding them is illegal
unless all parties are told that they are
being recorded. Disclaimers should be in
plain view.
Authorities though armed with a judge signed
warrant can conduct audio surveillances even
without the consent or knowledge of any
individuals.
