What is the difference between a Private Investigator and a Private Detective?
Answered By Editor
The difference between the two is dependent
on the State Private Investigator Licensing
Laws. But for most states, the term can be
interchangeable.
In some states, like New Jersey, there is an
actual difference in their meaning. Those who
want to become Private Investigators must
strictly follow the detailed laws in the
Private Detective Act of 1939.
